The People That Make It Happen

By |June 8th, 2011|Categories: Wood Boat Foundation|

There is a dedicated team that made the recent Classic Mariners' Regatta a reality. All sorts of things need to be done, and one of the unexpected items that needed "doing" this year was the making of new bases for the found CMR trophies. The trophies have been around since 1988. (The first CMR was in 1983.) Around 1996 they disappeared but were "found"again in storage this year at the Maritime Center. Research at The Leader provided the missing winners' names for the intervening years, but there was not room to list them all on the original trophy bases. Enter Todd Knoblock, [...]

By |June 7th, 2011|Categories: Club News, Racing out of the Bay|

Change in the Sailing Instructions for the Summer Series We apologize if we confused some of you by naming the temporary tetrahedron mark off the ferry dock “K”. Even though we have never used the “K” for Kala Point mark, it is still on the course map that way and I should have thought of that. So to correct the problem, we have renamed the temporary tet mark that is usually placed out from the ferry dock “D”. D for Don’t Go There (or D for the people who did go there.) The D mark can also be used as [...]

Sailing Team Ends Season at PT Regatta

By |June 6th, 2011|Categories: PTHS Sailing Team|Tags: |

70 high school sailors gathered at the Northwest Maritime Center to wrap up the season under surprisingly sunny skies Saturday and Sunday. The wind cooperated as well – at least on Saturday, allowing the Race Committee to bang off 18 races on Saturday over the course of about 7 hours. Sunday was to be less windy so the R/C, made up of three generations of the Daubenberger family made the best of Saturday. As it turned out, this was a good thing to do as only 2 races would be completed on Sunday. Out of 17 teams, Port [...]
