Seven boats came out for the season opener. Before the start the wind was very light and inconsistent. A last minute decision was made to set a short course SBF2 – 3.1 nm. with the possibility of shortening it to one lap. The wind started rising and spreading over the bay after the start. The wind on City dock was 3.5 kts., with lulls to 2.0 and the occasional gust to 6.0 kts. Hopefully it would be enough to buck the current, which was approaching max flood outside the bay.
The first lap was completed rapidly and the RC started thinking they should have set longer course, but the wind started going away for the Evening before the last boats finished the second lap.
