A beautiful sunny afternoon. This week the start was from City Dock. At the Dock the wind was variable 3 – 5 kts , occasional gusts to 7 kts. direction cycling widely between 020°M & 320°M. These conditions persisted throughout the race.
The course announced was SMTF, (6.1 nm.) with the start towards the NE. Apparently the RC did a poor job of announcing the course as there were many questions from the fleet. Further, after the start it appeared that several boats were set up to cross the line in the wrong direction and there was a call asking if the race had started. In retrospect the RC should probably have abandoned the start, clarified the course, and given additional warning of the restart.
The first Finish was in just under 1.5 hrs and the next 5 boats followed in less than 5 mins.
The Cutter Fiddlehead unofficially joined the start and sailed most of the course.
This Race wraps up the Nightcap Series and the PTSA 2023 racing season. The Race Committee would like to thank everybody that came out, even if only for one race. Congratulations to those that placed highly and to those that exceeded their own expectations and encouragement to those that are still gaining experience.
