Small but Mighty PTSA Watmough Bay Weekend
The PTSA weekend overnight to Watmough Bay shaped up as a match race between the Alden 44 Puffin (Chris King accompanied by Matt, Xavier, and Helena Cooper ) and the 1930 39' Yawl Erin (Steve Chapin and Mike Kennedy). A 35' Wauqiez Pretorian Alente (Terry Spencer) joined a little later in the crossing from City Dock to Watmough Bay. Watmough Bay Overnight–This Weekend, July 22-23
This weekend is PTSA's overnight trip to Watmough Bay. Call it competitive cruising, or efficiently proficient sailing with a party thrown in! We start at 10:00 a.m. at City Dock. Dinghy Racing – July 10, 2023
Eleven dinghies joined the fun for the second running of the new weekly dinghy racing series hosted by the PTSA and NWMC. The junior sailors crewed four C420s and 1 Laser while the seniors raced an assortment of dinghies ranging from PT11s to 5o5s with Lasers, an OK Dinghy and a Cyclone also in the mix. The racing began in a light breeze of about 5 knots which later built to a solid 8-10 knots by the end of the evening. High School Sailing Team Update (with photos)
The High School Sailing Team's summer season has started, with summer race team practice Tuesdays and Thursdays and Monday race nights every week. On Monday race nights, high school sailors and other members of the community can come out and race in a laser, c420, or open fleet. The first race night on July 3rd was a success, with great weather for dinghy racing. Race nights will continue through the summer, culminating in a regatta the weekend of August 12th-13th, for both high school sailors and other dinghy sailors in the area. [...]

The fog from earlier in the day burned off to make for a nice evening sail. The course was city dock, Y, tower, I, B, and finish at city dock. The wind was fairly lite, which made it challenging for Martha, but the two Tbirds and the Ultimate 20 made it around the course in about two hours. Dinghy Racing Begins!
The first evening of the new dinghy racing series got underway on Monday. Thirteen boats (plus the committee boat) participated to the enjoyment of all. Such a great turnout bodes well for this new class of boats racing on PT Bay. Many thanks to those who have worked to make it happen. Get that Laser out of the back yard or the garage and join in next week.
