Committee was greeted by ~8 kt SE breeze. A temporary W mark was set and Committee ran on a NW bearing to set the S/F line only to discover the wind was backing. When the line was finally set for a NE wind, the wind disappeared. After a while the usual Westerly began to fill in making Y a good Windward mark except that it was too close to the S/F line. Committee relocated to set I as the Windward mark.
Race 1. Course SIGaIF. Wind at start 5.5-6.5 kts. from 310 degM. Bearing to I, 310 deg. Pin favored by 5 deg.
The wind softened around Committee as the leaders were halfway up the 3 rd leg but there appeared to be more pressure inshore. The wind returned to Committee as the leaders started the final downwind leg then veered to 020 degM for a reaching finish.
Race 2. Another large wind shift required resetting the course and, at the suggestion of someone in the fleet, course SCF was set. A start was hurried so the fleet could be past the Ferry Dock before the 15:30 departure, but it had to be postponed for relocation of the Pin. The delay meant a couple of boats had to take avoiding action for the ferry.
At the start the wind was ~6 kts from 000 deg. Bearing to C also 000 deg. After the start the wind backed to 330 deg. When the leaders were at the Windward mark the wind at Committee veered to 020 deg. By the finish the wind had backed to 320 deg. and had risen to ~6.5 kts. Gusting 8 kts.
This week no PHRF boats checked in.
