High School Sailing Team Fundraiser at Wooden Boat Fest

Every year during Wooden Boat Fest, the Sailing Team fundraises by selling bouquets of flowers to the boats that attend the festival. This year was no different, and members of the team spent days collecting flowers (which were kindly donated by Leslie Flanagan, Lonely Pines Farm and Fabled Flora), creating bouquets, and taking flower orders. In addition, the team had a booth at the festival, selling raffle tickets. High School Sailing Team Summer Report

Over the summer, the sailing team attended race nights run by PTSA, as well as practices every week. During July, Lhotse Rowell, Panya Cao, Ocean Smith, and Hazel Windstorm attended the Wind Clinic at CGRA in Cascade Locks, Oregon. Lhotse and Hazel sailed lasers, placing 21st of 32 and 25th of 32, and Panya and Ocean sailed a C420 and placed 8th of 11. High School Sailing Team Update (with photos)

The High School Sailing Team's summer season has started, with summer race team practice Tuesdays and Thursdays and Monday race nights every week. On Monday race nights, high school sailors and other members of the community can come out and race in a laser, c420, or open fleet. The first race night on July 3rd was a success, with great weather for dinghy racing. Race nights will continue through the summer, culminating in a regatta the weekend of August 12th-13th, for both high school sailors and other dinghy sailors in the area. [...]

Good Result in the Gorge

On the 6th-7th of May, members of the Port Townsend High School Sailing Team traveled to the Cascade Locks, Oregon, to sail on the Columbia River for their gold district championship event. They sent two teams, one representing Port Townsend High School with sailors Ava Butterfield, Lhotse Rowell, Antonio Rioseco, Ocean Smith, and Hazel Windstorm, and the other representing West Sound Academy with sailors LC Bowen, Nadia Fisch, Noah Holly, and Zia Magill.
