All who participated in last year’s Watmough Bay overnight distance race/outing came away saying “Wow, that was fun; and what a beautiful place.” Camp-fires on the beach, cocktails in the cockpit, camaraderie in a beautiful setting, like Catalina Island, “25 miles across the Sea,” if we add a tack or two.
But, alas it’s more fun in summer than in Junuary…. the weather may be better than January, but not exactly what we expect of summer. The forecast for this weekend is more of the same: temperatures in the low 50’s, rain, clouds, no sun, and very light winds on Sunday afternoon.
So we’ve asked around, and the PTSA board has made an executive decision to postpone the Watmough Bay distance e vent. There will be no PTSA sponsored Watmough Bay outing/race this weekend.
So…., Friday night (6/17) racing is on! Come out and join us for informal racing around the Bay this Friday evening, June 17, 2022. See you at City Dock for 18h00 start. Windy promises the westerly will blow at 10-15 knots at 5:00 p.m. and the sun may make a cameo appearance. See you there.
And start planning for the big PTSA campout at Killitsut Harbor on July 23-24. Let’s empty Boat Haven and Point Hudson on July 23-24, bring cushions, Pina Coladas, rum, whiskey, or Kombucha, water, some food to share, instruments to play and we’ll have a giant raft up….. Start will be 10:00 a.m. City Dock for a competitive procession across the Bay. Low tide that day is 7:32 a.m. and it will be flooding all day until 4:52 p.m., perfect for entering through the channel.
See you Friday, CITY DOCK, 18h00 start….
