Here’s who won the awards for 2025
- The Peg-Leg for first in the racing class went to SIR ISAAC (5 time winner of the Shipwrights Regatta)
- Golden Trident Award for the saltiest boat or crew went to CEREDWIN
- Directional Helmet Award went to SAGA
- Whak O Matic, for the best use of misspent energy went to a whole bunch of boat attempting to round the reach mark
- The Wire Cruising boat trophy goes to the first boat in the cruising class INFINITY
- Wet Ass Award went to SPOT (FJ) – renamed the wet hair award for one of the crew hiking out downwind and dragging her hair in the water
- The Hook went to last place finisher in the racing class (but the race was shortened due to lack of wind…) VARYA
- WILLIAM WALDEN won first in the small boat cruising class
- FIDDLEHEAD won first in the cruising class II.
- The Unmarconi Award from the Artful Sailor went to HOUAT.
And these were the winners of the drawings:
- The haul out from Sea Marine went to OWL
- The haul-out from The Port of Port Townsend went to CEREDWIN. This award is given in honor the Port Townsend icon Van Hope. Van built a lot of boats, including the scow schooner Patricia and many folks working in the marine trades today remember him fondly as a mentor and a teacher.
Race Report: Over thirty boat came out for a wonderful day on Port Townsend Bay. After a one hour delay to let the fog lift, which it mostly did by the new 1pm start, the fleet got off in light wind. Most boats finished, some aided by creative course shortening by the race committee. The day got sunnier as the wind decreased but no one seemed upset by the tradeoff.
