This week the usual North-Westerlies had returned at 4 – 5 kts. The CB headed out to set a S/F line between “I” and “T“. Approaching the middle of the Bay it was apparent that there was the usual hole around T so a temporary mark “L” was set in front of the Tower at the edge of the wind-line. Course SILCLF – ~4.0 nm. was set for the light wind.
Just before starting the Sequence, the wind softened and veered about 50° so the start was postponed, the pin was moved and course SBFBF set so it could be shortened if the wind did not recover. There was no Leeward mark.
During the Sequence the wind Backed to the original 305°M (which was also the bearing of I from the CB – L was at 125° ). Another Postponement was called to reset the course. The Pin was moved again and ended up favored by about 15°. Course SLCLF was reset. The wind strengthened to 7 – 8 kts. with occasional gusts to 9. The race Start was at 13:37:00.
By 14:00 the wind had grown to 13 – 14 kts., same direction, and the RC was thinking that setting mark B instead of C for the reach mark would have made a better course. There was now also plenty of wind around the Tower. An hour later, after most boats had finished, the wind at the CB was down to 8 – 9 kts. Gusting 11.
NOTE:- In the Standings table below Scores in [ ] denote throw-outs. One worst score is thrown out for every 4 completed races.
