With a light wind the fleet took off into the fog at 10am on Saturday. Not all results are in but it sounds like it was an interesting day. Several boats stayed close to shore around point Wilson and ran into kelp and a back eddy. Falcon reported that they got stuck in the kelp patch from which it took them an hour to get out then they turned around and went home. Kolas finally got to Protection Island around 5pm before giving up. Rumor has it that Pacifica turned around at McCurdy Point. The visiting F31 trimaran owned by Vincent Depillis finished at 5:37 pm, however they later reported flying a spinnaker (prohibited by the special pandemic rules) and so were DSQ’d. No word yet on the other boats.

Next time we’re coming armed with a satnav! Less groping in the fog; It was a gorgeous day….. The trees floating above the fog along North Beach were glorious.
Falcon.
Vamoose went around the wrong side of the PT Wilson buoy and DSQ’d herself. Will read better someday…..Withdrew about a mile from Protection Is. with the F31 lurking nearby in the lifting fog.
Fun race. Thanks to the committee.

Knot Raven made good use of SatNav in the fog and had an great run around Wilson and out to McCurdy before the fog lifted. We made it around the west tip of the island at 3PM. Halfway back to McCurdy Point the wind died. After drifting for an hour we called it at 5PM and fired up the motor. Great wind once we came back around Pt Wilson.
