Almost lost in the excitement over the R2AK, the first race of the Summer Cat’s-paw Series was run Friday evening. As none of the regular Race Committee members were available the race was run from the water by the Sparkle crew, for which many thanks. Unfortunately, judging by the results, taking on the extra duties affected their performance and apologies are due.
The course was SMIF for 4.44 nm., presenting a varying selection of wind and tide conditions. Local stations show unsteady winds 5 – 8 kts. gusting to 13 and varying between WNW and NNW. The start was right around the change of the tide from ebb to flood.
Finish times were not recorded for the T-bird class but the results program asks for times so fictitious times were used to maintain the finish order.
This week we welcomed Lady Eileen, a Baba 30 to race with us.
Remember, there is no race scheduled next Friday but on Saturday there is the ever popular – Ta Dah – Midsummer Regatta and pickled herring. Watch this site for details.
