Port Townsend Sailing Association presents the Third Annual Last Chance Regatta; a race on Port Townsend Bay. NEW INFORMATION AS OF OCTOBER 15, 2026. The race will use the Bang-And-Go-Back format! This race format is catching on with sailing clubs around the world (you can Google it). A number of boats tried it out on several Friday evenings here in PT Bay and reports were that everybody had a great time.

Here’s a quick synopsis. There are no classes. All the boats start at the same time (it will be a BIG starting line), and sail the same course. When the first boat gets to the designated furthest mark they make an announcement on the VHF and everybody turns around from wherever they are and sails the course back to the start/finish line. First across wins. Everybody has a chance to win.
