Winter sailing at it's best: "Leaf" in the Shipwright's Regatta (winner of the Wet Ass award)

A note from PTSA President Holly Kays

Spring has come on strong, and though we don’t anticipate this sort of weather to continue, it does remind us of warmer evenings and the joy of getting out on the bay. Here’s wishing everyone the gumption to tackle the jobs to be completed to be able to get our boats on the water. If you don’t have a boat and would like to become involved, perhaps we can help there too. Consider joining the Port Townsend Sailing Association and start on your path. There are a lot of ways to become involved, from joining an interest committee to learning to be a part of the Race Committee to meeting others and becoming a part of a crew, or even sailing a Laser on your own.

Thank you to all the guest speakers this winter for the Wednesday series, and check out ptsail.org for Dave Wilkinson’s presentation on wind/current forecasting that he graciously shared.

Spring Opener Potluck - March 27th, 2024

Please join us the final Wednesday in March at 6pm for our spring opener potluck. PTSA will provide the eating/drinking implements and some beverages. YOU bring some food and we’ll all gather to share. We will also talk about spring ideas, the upcoming racing series', future small boat sailing, Lasers and more. How about a late October “race” in the style of the Shipwright’s Regatta? Bring your thoughts and ideas. This is also our official Skipper’s Meeting for the season, so make sure you look at the sailing Instructions on the website and maybe even print them out.

Membership

Have you been meaning to become a new member or renew?  We’ll have a table set up at the potluck so that you can execute the task right there. Bring checkbook, cash, or we’ll help you go through the website with a credit card. This all volunteer organization is focused on making sailing events happen and all funds go to help cover the cost of the clubhouse, insurance, race committee, events and potential new assets. Come get involved at what ever level you want.

Wednesday Night at the Clubhouse

This Wednesday 3/20 it's "movie night". At 6pm we will be showing the Movie "Maiden". Please come along and enjoy the show.

Race Committee Help Wanted

Do you enjoy being out on Port Townsend Bay? Do you like boating and sailing? Are you interested in supporting your significant other, partner, or child as they race on the Bay? Do you want to be part of a small, close-knit team that supports the PORT TOWNSEND SAILING ASSOCIATION’s racing activities? If you answer YES to any of these questions, please consider volunteering for our Race Committee Team.

We will be running races on the Bay on Tuesday evenings (starting in May), Wednesday evenings (starting in April), and other various weekends throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall. You can participate in any or all depending on your own preferences and availability. We would love to have you join our RC Team. No previous sailing, racing, race committee, or boating experience required. We will teach you everything you need to know, and we’ll have fun doing it!

If you have any general or specific questions, please send them to info@ptsail.org. We look forward to having you join us on the Bay!
