Piper Dunlap and crew on Community Sail Day

Update from PTSA president Holly Kays

Early spring weather and a lot of options for getting on the water!

Thank you to Vikki Fennell for helping us host the first PTSA sponsored Community Sail Day, April 21st. And thanks to the skippers who came and brought their boats!  If you are looking to sail more and need help finding a boat that needs crew, reach out to Vikki  (vikki.fennell@gmail.com), she's helping navigate the crew finder/skipper connection. Thank you also to Ted who brought information about classes offered at the NWMC.

One idea that has recently come up is a once a month a Sunday Funday Series; a casual "race" in the bay. Bring your own boat or come as crew. The plan would be for six Sunday sails from May to October. First one potentially May 19th, please stay tuned for more information!

Wednesdays! Thunderbirds and PHRF racing is happening. It is a big change for the PHRF boats to come out mid-week and we are committed to keep listening to feedback. Our race committee and board are striving to provide the best opportunity for folks to sail their boats on a friendly course where all can continue to learn and improve.

Mustang Sally, a Thunderbird donated to PTSA,  is on the hard at Haven Boatworks where it is being made race-ready. Thank you Haven. Interested in being involved in a unique partnership?   email: info@ptsail.org

Coming Up...

Saturday, April 27 - Partridge Point Distance race. There is a new system on the website for you to sign up ahead of time and see who else has signed up with an intention to race. No cost.

Monday May 6 - Small Boat Series starts. This is an opportunity for folks to use one of PTSA's Lasers, or bring their own dinghy/small boat to sail with others.  4:30 rigging starts at the boat ramp.

June 1,2  - Classic Mariners Regatta. All boats are welcome. Prizes will be awarded to the first three places in each class and this year we will have an award for the overall classic boat winner. There will be two races on Saturday with a triangular course. Classes will include racing, cruising and inshore (smaller) boats, as well as one design classes that have three or more competitors (at this point, Thunderbirds). The more boats that sign up, the deeper the classes and more opportunity to sail with others. Saturday night there will be a dinner at our club house, $12 if you sign up before, $20 at the door. Sunday is a pursuit style race around the bay and out towards Point Wilson.

Thank You

Thank you to Pete and Cathy Langley owners of the Port Townsend Foundry for their donation of two trophy cases now in our clubhouse. Come by and check them out.
