The first race of the Spring Whitecap Series was cancelled due to Gale Warnings in Admiralty inlet.

For once the Weather Service was correct.  A quick check of local reporting stations at 4 pm. showed the ferry dock reporting average southerly winds in the high 20’s with gusts in the high 30’s and wind-shifts around 30 deg.  The Mill also reported wind southerly in the high 20’s to high 30’s but with an occasional gust well over 40.  Wind-shifts at the mill were as much as 60 deg. and very rapid.

All-in-all a beautiful day to watch the water from a suitable watering hole and not be out testing your endurance and your boat’s weak points.
