There nearly wasn’t a third race. The wind was basically nothing with gusts to 5 kts. coming from NW through NE. and to add to the confusion an anchored ketch blocked the RC view of the pin (the ketch’s mizzen mast was designated the pin). The fleet (4 boats) ranged the bay looking for wind before settling on the course of City Dock to Indian Point and back, hopefully twice around.
The first start was aborted when the boats could hardly stem the negligible tide and a nearby wind line refused to approach. Another attempt ten minutes later was successful. The wind continued to be unreliable all over the course and it took the first boat almost an hour to complete the 1.6 nm. first lap, at which point we shortened course.
This week we were joined by Mas Rover a Farrier 31 trimaran. They retired, probably in frustration.
