The good ship Sockdolager has been at Great Barrier Island for the last few weeks, and we have a different kind of adventure for you this time, one with lots of endangered birds.

We are feeling the press of the season, however–it’s autumn here in the southern hemisphere–so sometime this week we will head for Great Mercury Island, a couple of harbors on the Pacific side of the Coromandel Peninsula, and then south to Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty, where we will begin preparing the boat (and ourselves!) for shipping back to San Francisco Bay.  There will likely be an excursion to the South Island by car in the near future, too.
